Born and raised in Ankara, Turkey, Elif Varol Ergen graduated from Hacettepe University Fine Arts Faculty, Graphic Design Department. She held a master degree and a PhD with a thesis about “Development of Far Eastern Comics” and “Dark Concepts at Children Books”. She also studied at the Hogeschool Gent Fine Arts Academy in Belgium to research and complete her thesis. She started a series of illustrations and an art career in Belgium before moving back to Ankara.
