See how you have helped BYDFAULT and Kindred Volunteer build a classroom in Guatemala

BYDFAULT, mission Guatemala March 2013

They have almost nothing but they are always smiling. The children of Guatemala, despite their condition look always happy. It’s only when you talk to them or their parents, or when you visit them at their home that you realize. You realize that they really have almost nothing, the kitchen’s floor is made of dirt, the oven in most cases is an open fire in one of the rooms, there is no water on tap all day long, same for electricity… They don’t suffer from hunger but malnutrition is very common and is the reason many children are not growing as they should.

While we were there, there was also a group of 17 high school students and their teachers helping in building the classroom. It was great to see so many people willing to help the school and their students. During our stay we worked hard at the school but we also discover the Mayan culture. We not only volunteered but we also learned about a different culture which is also how you can better evaluate the support you can provide.

The first fundraising we did two years ago was to buy books for the children at the school. Throughout the time, as we worked closely with Kindred Volunteer and the school’s principal it was obvious that they were now more in need of new classrooms rather than more books. That’s why the money you help raise goes in funding new classroom projects. And we need another $2,000 to finish the classroom this year.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
